Zero Server Storage Architecture

Privacy Policy

Last Updated: February 2025 • Effective Date: January 1, 2025

At BillOfSaleFree, we believe that sensitive legal transactions—including private party vehicle sales, financial transaction amounts, and Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN)—belong exclusively to the parties involved. Our application is built from the ground up on a client-side architecture that does not store or process your document details on our servers.

No Data Collection

We never collect, store, or sell buyer names, seller addresses, sale amounts, or vehicle identifiers.

In-Browser PDF

All PDF rendering is executed entirely within your browser's JavaScript engine using vector drawing.

No Account Needed

You do not need to register an account or provide an email to generate and download documents.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

Unlike traditional legal document platforms, BillOfSaleFree operates on a zero-retention model for user-generated documents. Specifically, when you fill out the bill of sale form:

  • We do not collect or store buyer or seller full legal names, physical addresses, or phone numbers.
  • We do not record Vehicle Identification Numbers (VIN), hull identification numbers (HIN), or serial numbers.
  • We do not log transaction purchase prices, payment methods, or promissory lien details.
  • We do not save digital signatures or notary jurat text to any central database or cloud storage.

2. How Your Documents Are Generated

When you click "Download as PDF", your browser compiles the document locally using the open-source client-side library pdf-lib. The document binary is constructed directly in your browser memory and transferred directly to your local file download manager. At no point is the completed document or its field parameters transmitted over the internet to our backend.

3. Server Logs and Hosting Infrastructure

When you visit our website, standard web hosting servers automatically record basic technical network requests. These logs may contain your public IP address, browser user-agent header, operating system type, referring URL, and the timestamp of requests. We use these transient server logs solely for maintaining system availability, mitigating DDoS attacks, and diagnosing server health. These logs are never correlated with any form inputs.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

BillOfSaleFree does not deploy intrusive cross-site advertising tracking cookies or biometric user profiling.

We may utilize local browser storage (such as localStorage or sessionStorage) solely to preserve your active form inputs across page refreshes so you do not lose your draft if your browser tab is accidentally reloaded. You can clear this data at any time via your browser settings or by clearing cache.

5. Third-Party Links

Our website may contain informational hyperlinks to official government websites (such as state Departments of Motor Vehicles, Secretaries of State, or federal odometer regulatory bodies). We have no control over the privacy practices or policies of third-party government or municipal websites. We encourage you to review their policies when navigating away from our domain.

6. Your Rights Under CCPA and GDPR

Because we do not maintain a database of personal identities, profile histories, or transaction records, there is no personal data file linked to your identity for us to access, amend, port, or erase. However, if you submit an inquiry via our Contact form, you may request deletion of any email correspondence by contacting us.

7. Contact Regarding Privacy Inquiries

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or our client-side architecture, please reach out via our Contact Page.
